Bittersweet Aftermath

Rodel G. Lustina, Jr.

More than a year had passed, and yet I struggle to adjust. I know it’s not just me as pandemic is a global issue. It obstructed lives across the Earth. It forged us to alter our culture and customs that eventually twisted our character in the long run. It concerned me as much you do but I know we’re still crusading hard just to finally get through this so let’s keep on trying and be hopeful since the aftermath of this would definitely leave us tougher and wiser.

Prior to the worst juncture of COVID-19 pandemic, I was delighted to achieve a nonstop sleep and rest from everything out of being isolated. I was able to do various things and enjoyed the company of my family along the ambience of feeling safe and relax at home. I was so grateful as I acquired plenty of realizations from merely staying at our house plus being free to learn and discover whatever there is. However, my fortunate days wasn’t prolonged since this pandemic won’t end and even got worse.

Despite the rising number of COVID-19 cases, classes were back on track by means of distance learning which occupied me too much pressure and despair. I was actually ecstatic at first because I was very eager to formally study again except when this eagerness fade away and turned into stress. This led to pile up the insecurities and anxiety within me. Nevertheless, I was sturdier enough to handle those adversities all thanks to my quarantine period that constructed me like a strong brand-new building.

In the end, if we chose to stand firm, we’ll be certainly firmer and even fiercer to face challenges. There will be always good in bad and bad in good but what truly matters is we focus on the brighter side of the way. Let us not make all things bitter when they originally taste sweet. Though combining both creates the balance necessary for living since life has never been great without pain and lesson.
